What is PMC?
Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a pliable material with
a consistency similar to modelling clay, consisting of microscopic
particles of pure silver or gold suspended in an organic binder.
The material can be pushed into moulds or handformed and patterned
as desired, and certain gemstones can be set directly into
the wet clay. When fired at temperatures between 6oo°
and 9oo° Celsius for anything from 10 minutes to two hours,
depending on the type of PMC used, the binder burns away and
the metal particles fuse to form solid pure metal that can
be hallmarked as such (.999).
What gemstones can be used?
Only a handful of natural gemstones can withstand the required
temperatures and can be set directly into the clay. Other
stones have to be set with conventional methods, ie. prong
or bezel settings. When making samples, I sometimes use lab-created
gemstones instead of natural ones, as they are cheaper, and
it is not quite as heart-breaking when a piece doesn't turn
out the way imagined. All made to order pieces have natural
gemstones, unless stated otherwise (ie. Cubic Zirconia).
How can I order/pay for a piece?
Simply use the contact form to order, stating which piece
you wish to purchase, as well as any additions or what size
if applicable. Also let me know where you need the order to
be shipped, so I can work out the shipping charges.
I accept payment directly via PayPal, as well as Credit Card
(through PayPal's secure server).
If you have any further questions regarding the jewellery,
please contact me.
